ZERO1 Biennial artist Lynn Hershman Leeson has a new project she is working on called Killer App. Killer App is a film and art installation informed by Nobel scientists about critical evolutionary shifts in our age of genetic mutation. We wanted to give you a sneak peek into what she is working on and ask for your help in supporting in funding it.
Only 4 days remaining to raise the funds!
Hershman describes it as "Like DNA itself, there areinter related strands to this project -- A feature film and installation as well as associated virtual extensions of social media. Social media is mutable. Virtual identities, webisodes, blogs, email, facebook, and other viralized forms of communication will link to the film and installation. The surrounding networks redefine interpretation of the webisodes that will be time released on utube. Characters blog, use facebook and an unreliable narrator is discovered through virtual residual “evidence. Form becomes content, and the reverse. At the end of 2012 the characters. becomes a social-media character. A facebook page, a twitter feed, a flickr document her research into genetic abnormalities and starts to uncover research into animal/machine developments."
Help and support Killer App. And don't forget to come by the ZERO1 Garage and check out Hershman's current project installed, Present Tense, which is part of the main ZERO1 Biennial exhibition Seeking Silicon Valley.
